Hi - Is anyone out there familiar with MRP? This is an application that has
to do with manufacturers' inventory, purchasing, bills of material, and
scheduling (both for production & purchasing, so that they can know when to
order parts & materials, based on lead times, and schedule labor for assembly
to be able to produce "x" number of widgets by a certain deadline).
This has apparently been a primarily "mainframe/MIS" type application in the
past, but based on a friend's (who needs this sort of thing) description, I
don't see any reason it couldn't be handled in a PC database (Paradox, 
ccess,
VisualBasic, FoxPro, etc.)
If anyone's familiar with this, or aware of any existing package, I'd
appreciate a response. I'd like to avoid as many pitfalls as possible, and
not overlook some aspect that's important.
