Agreed, to do it any other way would be stupid.

However, I'm still not convinced that what Paul's complaining about is
buggy behaviour insofar as all USRs function in this manner and AFA I can
determine, always have done (my 1988 Courier HST/2400 certainly does).  If
this was a true bug, I'd expect USR to have done something about it.  After
all, I'm sure that Paul isn't the first person to have discovered this
peculiar quirk.  Anyway, I'm currently awaiting the definitive answer from
USR themselves, and will let you know what they say.
