andy:
In a good number of organizations, the bulk of the candidate
selection is done quite a bit ahead of time and the slate of
candidates presented for election has pretty much the exact
number of candidates to be elected, so the election process is a
formality.
As examples of pre-selection I'd consider:
-U.S. elections for Congress and the res. Like Americans don't
even elect their president themselves!
The Electoral College does it for you. Ever wonder how people
get into the E.C.? OK it is about 400 people, but like who are
they? This seems to be a bigger secret than the extension for
the Oval Office at the White house.
Since I have never attended an N.F.B. or NFBCAL election, I
cannot comment on their election procedures.
Sorry you do not like their election procedure. Perhaps you
are disillusioned with U.S. Politics generally too.
... ARRRRRGGGHHH!!!! ... Tension breaker, had to be done.
