If the horses aren't gun trained they'll either start or spook and run off.

Kill the snake.. while I seriously avoid killing anything, anytime we've got 
a buzztail to close to the horses or houses, they have to go.
 
 
On the other hand.. it you want loudly or heavily.. snakes tend to go away 
instead of confronting you. If you want the "Safe" way to deal with them just 
carry a shovel. Movhave greens on the other hand are very agreesive and will
