It is the usual far-right idiocy that the public will never accept tax increases
no matter how worthy the cause the increase would support. Polls and
history have proven that idea preposterous. Republicans can win elections
for awhile by appealing to the baser nature of many people in promising
them lower taxes, but the foolishness of that approach as a defining
political stance is only too obvious as polls and history attest.
