And it is very, very subtle.

Very few people would be familiar enough with scripture to catch many of
these glib errors.

That's too hard.  People usually want to be spoon-fed.

It's also easier to argue aganist excerpts than to read and understand in
context -- and then find holes.

Yes -- but at least we would have answers to a lot of questions.  For
example, what did Christ look like?

political reasons.
