I suppose I should have qualified my question a little more, lest we have to start giving Bonobos born in the US the right to vote. I was more specifically interested in the latest linguistics analysis that FOXP2 plays, and perhaps if some one can identify the proper changes needed, in genetic modifications to provide better vocal tracts for the modified Bonobos, so they can vocalize what linguistic capabilities they acquire after the modifications. Of course, anyone can keep modifying them until the distance between human and homobo is less than half the present distance between human and bonobo, but why would you want to do that in the first place? Just giving a different species the chance to communicate with us would be a great advance.
