It is a typical Republican approach that disadvantaged those not well off, while imposing no hardship whatsoever on the affluent. Worse yet for that approach, it doesn't work. Europe has had very high gas prices since the '70, equivalent to your $5.00 a gallon price, yet that hasn't cut into gas use in the slightest. Except in big cities where public transportation is cheap and easily accessible, the car is no longer a luxury but rather a necessity and in many cases a sole means of getting around, even back and forth to a job or in the suburbs back and forth to the train station. Raising the gas price is a self-serving approach that only a Republican would take seriously. --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
