Hey Shaun,
I saw somebody else's answer to your questions and it didn't look right
to me. Anyway, I did an assignment on hackers starting from around 1955
to about 1982 an as far as I know, people have been writing viruses ever
since the computers could handle them ie: 1965+. Remember these people
thought in machine code - viruses weren't really that hard. This was on
a main frame, fairly obviously, running very small
programs etc. Also in my assignment I saw the first australian virus
writer, which I think happened in about 1989 or possibly earlier.
I find it hard to belive the first virus ever written was 1985...
