Just like a lot of BBS software, the community that runs it supports it. 
There has been updates - several, as a matter of fact - but they've been
sporadic.  I know that Mike Hodgson (coolio) has a working compile of 3.01
with OpenWatcom, but I've yet to try to do anything with it yet.

I just like it the way it is because it just works.
