subject: HPT, Areafix and Points

Hello Joachim,

JP> But trying to use Areafix from the point to subscribe to areas
JP> ('local' network areas or official fidonet areas) will not work. The
JP> netmails to my nodes areafix arrive correctly at my node ... and stay
JP> there in the NETMAIL area. Unprocessed.

If you add "AreafixFromPkt yes" to your main config messages to areafix will be
processed when you toss new mail. Without that you'll need to run "hpt afix" in
your inbound processing somewhere.

JP> Trying to work with 'hpt afix' manually triggered (maybe only a hook
JP> in the config is missing) and having an areafix mail with only 'LIST'
JP> in it produces a netmail to the areafix of my uplink with trying to
JP> subscribe to an area named 'list' which my uplink doesnt know and
 JP> rejects thankfully.

JP> Any idea where I could take a closer look for more information about
JP> the proper configuration of that? All I found here or in the internet
JP> about hpt and areafix did not really help so far.

There are example areafix and filefix help message text files in hpt/misc and
htick/misc that you can use with the "helpFile" keyword in the "Robot Areafix"
or "Robot Filefix" section of your config that explains how to use
areafix/filefix.

 Ttyl :-),
         Al
