I don't understand. Who has said that Saddam was a nice guy?  The point is
that he was no worse than any other murderous tyrant we have supported over
the years. In some ways, he was considerably better. Did he kill more
people than most of his types we have supported? Yes, but that was in
putting down rebellions. We did much the same in our own civil war and for
much the same reasons.
