I switched to SeaMonkey to be compatible with Kris's browser.

Edit>Preferences>Helper Applications shows four file types set:

application/x-mplayer2 for extension wmv
video/x-ms-afs for extension afs
video/quicktime for extension mov
video/x-quicktime for extension mov

All four are set to invoke f:\apps\warpvision\video2.exe
I've deleted compreg.dat and video2.ini throughout the hard drives.
ipluginw.dll is in SeaMonkey's components directory.

Cutting and pasting

into the URL address window causes the SeaMonkey browser window to
generate a white screen.  Pressing CTRL-ESC pops up the running-programs
window showing "SeaMonkey-achterfolging-09.asf (viseo/x-ms-asf Object) -
SeaMonk".  Waiting several minutes while I've composed this letter has not
resulted in any change: SeaMonkey continues to display a white rectangle,
while cpu activity is sometimes low enough to guarantee that no file is
being downloaded in the background.

Trying a wmv file downloads the file, pops up warpvision and generates the
messages "cannot init video" followed by "Error start last
played file".

Trying a mov file by clicking on a link at a URL produces a new box which
is wholly white.  The back button returns me to the URL that has the link
in it.

I'm about ready to save my bookmarks but otherwise obliterate my entire
mozillahome directory, FireFox, SeaMonkey, and Mozilla and start from the
beginning.
