As UC Riverside alum ’03, I am deeply embarrassed by the 
undergraduate students who supported the divestiture of 
Israel. Last year the student government of Riverside 
approved a resolution supporting divestiture and now the 
University of California Student Association did the same 
in early February.

The hostile attitudes towards Israel only lead to 
increasing animus against the Jewish people who are on the 
campuses of the UC system. Our campuses should no longer be 
a proxy venue for the Middle East conflict. Nothing is 
going to change locally when it comes to worldwide affairs. 
Either lobby your congressional representatives or move 
there if you want change to happen either way.

Unless UC students gain some common sense, I implore the 
students to reconsider their rash opinions on divestiture. 
Until then, I hope conservative alumni and friends of 
Israel divest from the UC system until things change.
