Jonesy has bonded to my wife as her primary focus (just like every other
animal in the household) but I am still in there taking care of her and
getting chewed on regularly . She, is allready an integral part of
our family and she has such a personality that she wins every visitor as
well.

Jonesy's "formal" name is Congo Jones because my daughter found her
loose and terrified on Jones beach on New York's Long Island coast.
Jonesy was allready an adult then and spent the next couple of years
with relatives in NY before coming to live with us last Thanksgiving. We
love her and wouldn't part with her for the world even though she can be
a real pain in the pants when she wants! . A fun example is the most
recent....Lately one of our local supermarkets has been carrying raw
peanuts in the shell, for sale by the pound....I have been buying a
pound or so at a time and giving them to jonesy as a treat (which she
absolutely LOVES). Well now the market has run out of peanuts and they
don't intend to re-order due to low demand. So we went to a Pigeon store
here in town and they had raw valencia peanuts for sale....shelled. The
smallest amount that I could buy was 10 lbs, so that is what we
bought....I came home proud that we had found another source of Jonesy's
special treat....she was very excited when I put them in the same
location the "other" treats had been kept...I then gave her some in her
dish....the first one she devoured with relish....the second she picked
up, and paused, at that point I think it dawned upon her that she had no
shells to peel off...she then promptly dropped the peanut and gave me
the funniest staring look.....as if to say, "what did you do with the
REST of my treat?", my wife, daughter and I all broke up with laughter.
Jonesy was so incensed that we had gypped her out of the shells that she
threw the rest of the peanuts to the floor of her cage! We shall see if
she decides that she will accept them without the shells or not. If not,
I'll be looking for recipes for 10 pounds of raw peanuts!
