yeah, i've been on a few dialup > telnet bbses and i must say they
were very speedy.

if you want i can help you throw together a synchronet front end. it does 
have its advantages over gameserv.

some will say that synchornet is too 
bloated, but they dont realize it doesnt require many resources, and you can 
toggle off the services you dont want.

years back i ran synchronet on my 100mhz dell laptop with win95
