Perhaps that's why Kerry had been leaning toward a large gas tax a few years back.

The point was not, for me anyway, to artificially raise the price to that
level to acheive the result, it was that the result would be obtained if
the market pricing rose to those levels - but it is true that it would have
to happen quickly to avoid the warm water frog effect.
