After typing a bunch of pages on a Thinkpad in Word 7, then
transfering them all to my Desktop to print on a Panasonic 24 piner, I
was very surprised to see that the page/pargraph format was all changed
and I had to re-format quite a few.
Being of an inquesitive mind, I ask around and a friend of mine.
a very competent programmer came up with a likely answer. I will put it
up here for denial or approval.
It seems that as soon as one formats text in Word 7, this PRG
looks at the selected printer and "dips" into its characteristics to
form the template of your text. If then you have selected, in my case,
an Epson generic 9-pin driver, then as I did, move all the text to
another putor and another driver, the first formating is not honored by
the second driver's characteristics. This is transparent to you, the
user. Has anybody met this fate too? Can anybody deny this and/or
offer a better solution?
I have done some trials and if I select the second printer as
the default in my Thinkpad, then the formatting is honored, tending to
confirm my Guru's opinion.
