I, at one time, did operate a "mini-ISP". I had a program for
OS/2 that allowed up to four dialup callers to access my system at once...I
tried it and it worked, but man, on a P/200, it was kinda slow.

I've never doubted that and I have always said, contrary to what some Sync
sysops have said, that Synchronet is one of the easiest software packages
to set up for Fidonet-style networking. The documentation is very
well-written and you can get set up very fast.

Nice way of not mentioning any names. :P But you're absolutely right.

Synchronet serves an important niche in the BBS community, especially for
those without $$$$ to $pend on BBS software. I may poke fun, but
if you look at the sheer number of people running it, there's something to
be said there.

However, there are a lot of people still running "older"
software, such as myself, so the community is all splintered in a thousand
little factions when it comes to BBS loyalty.

Then again, I'm kinda infamous for changing software, but no more. No more
time to play and tinker with things and I'm never going to have to move my
userbase by hand again. That was an experience I'd rather not recreate. :P

Later,
Sean
