From Saddams point of view it's puppet, from the people's point of view
it's far more under their control then ever before.

He is addressing the concerns of the Iraqi people who's top concern right
now is security. The "draconian police state policies" are not
nation wide, they are only being imposed in certain hot spots.

they are still backing Karsai, true Iraq has been a bit of a distraction
but that really doesn't mean we have abandoned him.

Oh I don't believe that for one minute although I do believe it a worthy
goal. I'm clear on Afghanistan, bush went there with our full support to
take down the lying sacks of shit taliban who kept trying to protect osama,
that was both justified and required imo. Iraq on the other hand is still a
bit of a mystery to me, I'm not sure why bush pushed so hard for that.
