SL> Hello everyone (esp. Courier users), Hi - it's not a Courier specific thing. SL> Is it normal, when using the Courier to upload files, to have the CS SL> light blinking regularly? Yes. This means you're keeping your modem's buffers full, and it's blocking overruns with CTS. It will hold CTS low till there's room for another burst of data in the buffer. It may also be that the other end is holding reception down to the rate IT can handle, and that the error-correcting protocol (probably LAPM) is passing such flow control information back to your end. SL> What is happening on my Courier is that, during uploads, the SD and CS SL> lights are blinking at the same time. Should this be happening - i.e. SL> I thought the CS light should stay continuously lit while the SD light SL> blinks. No, as above. It just shows your RTS/CTS handshaking to be working properly. You may see the CS light on continuously if you don't use any error-correction protocol at all, though CS still will blink, maybe faster, as the buffer has a 'block when near full, unblock when near empty' characteristic, thus avoiding switching off/on every few bytes. With LAPM, each blink is a frame sent. SL> I'm using hardware flow control, DTE speed 115,200 bps. The RS light is SL> on all the time during uploads. So it should be; you're only sending. If you like watching pretty lights, try using a bidirectional protocol, sending and receiving big files either way ..
