Hi Leon,
Yes, your name is well known to me from the Yahoo OS/2 groups. :-)
I am currently in the middle of recovering (a clone of) a JFS drive [was
last (standalone - non-spanned) volume on another "destroyed by
lightning up the ADSL-line" machine, having to learn which bytes/bits in
the boot-sector of that JFS drive are significant, outside of the BIOS
Parameter Block, as the boot-sector [only!] got filled with 512 'F6'
entries (somehow!), but as I had peripherals in a number of systems
destroyed [via CAT5 route], I ended up with an undamaged HDD which I
relocated to this machine.
Both machines previously had working Realtek 8139 NICs, although I
didn't find out until later that they are slightly different to one
another. I was able to boot two particular eCS volumes, 1.13 and 1.05
OK, had TCP/IP access on both, but couldn't get the requester started on
either.
I ended up reinstalling MPTS on the 1.13 volume, and this time via the
Selective networking installation, I chose the LS component instead of
Peer - had NetBIOS and the LAN up and running in addition to TCP/IP.
On this volume [1.05], I almost went the same route, but decided to just
try replacing the e:\ibmlan\net.acc with the dummy one in
e:\ibmlan\install - LAN back up and running again - just recreated the
(now-updated) shares!
Maybe that procedure will help?
Regards,
Mike
