RW> BR> The army might've taught you HOW - but I'd bet they also
RW> BR> taught you WHEN and UNDER WHAT CIRCUMSTANCES. Somehow I
RW> BR> think McVeigh didn't get the whole lesson - if, indeed, the
RW> I think in his mind he was doing if for the exact
RW> reason the Army MIGHT have taught him. He had an enemy
RW> he wanted to damage and did not have conventual
RW> resources available to him. I was taught that those
RW> were the exact circumstances to use such things.
BR> I seriously doubt that anyone in that building even knew
BR> him, let alone desired to do him harm. His perception was
BR> wrong, putting it kindly. NOBODY makes war on civilians
BR> when no war is declared - and without a direct threat, no
BR> action was required.
And I'm sure he would say that you could have said the
same thing about the people at Waco and Ruby Ridge.
He, from what I have read/heard, felt that the FBI,
BATF, IRS and every other government agency known by
their letters were out to take the rights from the
citizens of the US. You have to admit that the actions
of the BATF & FBI at Waco and Ruby Ridge and the
inaction of the government as a whole to do any thing
about them gave his train of thought a boost.
Think about it, you have the FBI giving what amounts to
a 'shoot on site' order to a sniper and the sniper
followed that order and killed an unarmed woman holding
a child in her arms. Followed by 50+ men, women and
children died in a totally screwed up op and no one
even got demoted. Kinda looks like the government is
out of control doesn't it?
Add to that he was a highly motivated solider on the
fast track to SPECOPS and then he winds up out on his
rump after seeing all the politics that goes on in the
Army and you have a good recipe for something bad.
Either a bomb or sniping from a tower or something.
RW> BR> explosives can be made easily in anyone's kitchen - I made
RW> BR> them when I was a teenager and used them in small rockets.
RW> I never made plastic explosives but I made gunpowder.
BR> Sorbitol, glycerine, potassium chlorate and something else,
BR> I forget what - pliable, flexible, castable and so stable
BR> you could poundon it with a hammer. Light it and it burns.
There's something you can mix w/ petroleum jelly to
make an explosive but I never had any desire to blow
things up. Only make loud noises and seeing how far I
could fling things.
RW> What a wienie, I made a cannon out of a couple pieces
RW> of pump pipe.
BR> Didn't need a cannon - already had a rifle that I could
I had a couple of those but you can't toss a baseball a
quarter mile or so with a rifle.
