Oh, C'mon Gene... SUVs **are** "Jeep type" things.

As I recall, from high school, one classmate drove his parents Land Rover
to school in the early 70s, and another drove his parents VW MicroBus - I
got along with both of them and I'll leave it to you to determine which
side of the political persuasion each were (yes, parents do have
influence). I'll leave it to you to guess which was the more popular
vehicle too... The only reason the Big 3 didn't do their own "Land
Rovers" then, was the "alleged" gas shortage...  Damn, was there even
a Halliburton back then?, or was the blamee du jour Esso - holy moly, is
that why they changed to Exxon? to stave off the conspiracy theorists?
