They are, although to a much lesser extent than towards the US.  The legitimacy,
alleged anyway, lies only with the Europeans and that doesn't begin to cut
it because the Europeans have little but contempt for the Brits as
obstructionists on  EU unity and the much despised Anglo-American
"third way" of running a country, a way that engenders little but
contempt in most of Europe.
