Don't believe everything you hear, especially not from some of the people in this group. There is no law forbidding the posting of the tax on the pump. Sales taxes are rarely posted on items subject to that tax and excise taxes never. But you are right about the Constitution. Bush is bending it every which way or just ignoring it when it suits his agenda. But the courts are now reigning in his reckless and indeed dangerous policies. That is one of the benefits of a constitution and an independent court with equal authority to that of the other branches. It is a simple and incontrovertible fact that the American form of government, for all its bungling in the execution, is nonetheless the best form of government ever devised by man - and I emphasize _form_ of government. Unfortunately, with far-right ideologues like Bush & Co. things get dicey at times. --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
