RB> ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ RB> See Ian, This is Hamish's comment RB> Ask, him to explain the pro's and cons of RPI to you RB> All I know is that they are not REAL modems, as they leave Compression RB> and error correction up to your software, which inturn uses RB> up CPU horsepower RB> and you can only use them with specific software. I have no argument with any of that, and welcome discussion on the pros and cons of RPI modems, in order to help educate people as to whether they ought to consider buying them or not. I'm sure it's more on the 'con' side, myself - but the point I was making (in netmail, I might add) was, let's leave out the negative reflections on people who sell them to meet demand from an undoubtedly uneducated public? In other words, can we please concentrate on the technical issues, educating via those, and not reflect on the ethics of those selling them? Going on your later posts on this, please let's leave all such personal aspects to netmail, thanks Russell. Thanks also for your explanation regarding the other matter, netmail on its way ..
