  Pacu:
  Resembles a piranha, has teeth but its head is not as large
  as those of it's carnivorous RELATIVES (pirhana)
   Diet: consists of FRUIT and vegetable matter.
   This species can be confused with colossoma brachipomum
   Pacu is similar to Silver Dollars  except for size,
   and those teeth probably allow it to chew fruits and
   veggies.
    You ever try to chew say a cornstalk?
    Consider how tough uncooked vegetion is.
    It probably also can eat meat, but it's preference in
    native state be fruits and Vegetable matter.
