America is undoubtably a zionist entity. Your bigotry is showing, not too surprising in a Brit even in this day and age. American policy towards Israel has always been a mixture of supporting the underdog and supporting an ally in a Middle East that at one time was heavily anti-American and anti-Brit. All the more so in that some Arab countries, newly freed of Brit imperialism, tended to ally with the Soviets. For a time, Israel was the only really dependable ally we had in that area, other than Turkey. At present, the relationship under Bush is even closer, partly because the Republican right, particularly Cheney, have close ties to the far-right Likud and Bush must cater to the Christian right because they too support Israel for biblical reasons. They, in fact, are now by far the most influential supporters of Israel. American Jews, meanwhile, being mostly liberal, are torn between disgust with Likud and the natural affinity they feel for their co-religionist in Israel. Even then it is not so much a feeling of religious solidarity (few US Jews are as far to the right religiously as the Orthodox in Israel) but rather a sort of ethnic solidarity reinforced by memories of the Holocaust. Of course I wouldn't expect you to be aware of any of this. That would show a degree of awareness on your part I have yet to see demonstrated on any subject. --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
