Pass a law to give the president that kind of power and you will be on that
slippery slope to dictatorship. The examples of this kind of thing used by
dictators everywhere are legion.

Just possibly an administration with a more responsible reputation might
get this kind of law passed, but Bush has no chance whatsoever. He will not
even try. Even De Lay in the House would crucify him if he tried.
