I believe Adam had in mind being a consumer of politics or even government,
couched in consumer jargon. We all supposedly love the consumer of goods
and therefore should admire the consumer of politics as well. Not a little
asinine really in that there is nothing quite so fickle as the consumer.

No wonder the political parties concentrate on such people and
consumer-type advertising is so effective in hooking them. Sad.
