DR> 1) Anybody got any Apple II GS keyboards for
DR> sale ?? We could use..
I will see if I can remember where the last reference for Apple parts is -I
know there is at least one educational company still in business. Call Apple
if I don't get back to you in several days.

DR> Now the district has done something
 DR> REALLY stupid: Contract
DR> out to a company to handle all of
DR> their phone service ! We
Sounds familiar, we are having trouble getting the line in also. Was supposed
to be in Aug 23 - no show yet. The principal found some parent activists-so
there is still hope. Maybe you could do the same.

As for the modem not dialing out, that is not unusal, most of these office
phone systems are of poor quality and voltage settings are not correct for
the line to recognize the modem. I have tried dialing out and in on a line I
have access to, no go! I did some research and found that if the voltage for
the ringer and pickup are not set correctly-no communication.

DR> Since we have tons of Macs, but none
DR> of them online, is it
DR> possible for me to fire up this
 DR> Pentium, download Mac share-
DR> ware off of BBS's and the Web, save
DR> them to an IBM disk, then
DR> eject them, walk over to a MAC, pop
DR> in the disk, and actually
DR> transfer the file to the MAC's hard drive for use ??
I see no problem with this. Try it and see what happens. Macs should be new
enough to read/write PC disks or you can get some software for the PC to do
the same.

DR> 4) Know of any interesting computer projects
 DR> for classes / kids ?
DR> Looking for something more interesting than the typical
DR> "look at this CD-ROM" kind of thing !
Try "Project Newsday" when you get a connection going. You will only need an
E-mail address to do this one. Involves writing a collaborative newspaper
with schools from around the world.
