Anyone out there tried a Diamond Dust From GAPP?
I just got one last tuesday and had it ready to fly on Sunday.. what a plane
I had it setup with an OPS rear intake rear exhaust with a factory tuned
Nitropipe. I would guess it flew at a modest 165-170 mph.. The PLane is sorta
like a Delta wing looking Triangle that's very thin. the Control system is
supposed to be setup with 2 elevons split all the way across the back. but at
the time I was told and did not see that my Futaba SkySport 6A would not
support elevons and there is np mention of elevons in the manual.. So what I
did was split up the control surfaces into 3rds giving me 12"'s of aileron on
both sides and an 11" elevator in the center. which works quite well , but
what
I decided to do is setup the 2 aileron servos with flaperon control so all I
would have to do is roll the flap nob to increase elvator on landing incase
the
center would not have enough surface to do the job.. well to my surprise I
turned on both the flap switch and the elev switch and guess what? Elevons
were
working?!?!. so now what I have is 2 elevons and 1 elevator.. I think it
orks
better that way since there would not be as much drag coming from the center
elevator. anyway it seems to have a better roll rate at high speeds with just
using the center control surface for elevator, but the turns do not seem to
e
as crisp. The Kit cost $49 and it's extremly fast building with fiberglass
arrowshaft leading edge and 2 carbon fiber spars tied together with Kevlar
thread it's extremely rigid. also the kit is all Lazer cut wood and there are
only 4 ribs not including the 2 wingtips..
I give this model two thumbs up. it's a hellava lot of fun.. are you ready
or
this one.. you better be :)
Also why I am on the subject of flying wings.. Anyone out there ever heard of
a
wing called "SCANNER"? sorta looks like a stinray. if so any information as
o
where I can get a kit for this plane would be greatly appreciated! I have one
and bought it second hand and I do not know how to get another one.
Thanks
Neil S.
