   backslash character by itself, since it is the initializer
   to the C text source string escape sequence, such as found
   with '\t', '\0', '\n', and '\a'. If you want the backslash
   in your C source string literals, you must use '\\', so that
   the precompiler will recognize that you want a backslash.
fopen("c:\\testfile", w);    /*  this will work.  */
