I have seen several scopes with the 45 deg mounting including mine

also Mel Bartels Trilateral scope appears to be that way.

I find it much easier to look into than when it was on the side.  It can be
a little bit of a problem when looking at the zenith but I don't do that
much. It it is still usable there as well.

I have put weight on the lower side of my mirror box to counter balance the
weight on the top of the UTA.
