Indeed. A new pastor for the Catholic church on Ridge street in Evanston decided
he would start ringing his church bell at 7:00 Sunday mornings. Every
resident in the immediate neighborhood rose up in protest, including most
of the Catholics.

The poor pastor was astounded. After weeks of controversy, he relented. He would
go back to ringing the bell starting at 10:00 instead. Peace at last. One
of those Catholics was the ring leader of the protest and the one who got
up a petition and went from door to door to get signatures. He is a very
conservative
Catholic.

I happen to know about this because that guy is a long-time friend of mine,
a professor at Loyola since god was young, as he likes to put it.
