DP>The Volquartsen hammer gets mixed reviews. Trigger pull is noticeably
DP>lighter at 3.5 lbs., but the break is creepy and still a little gritty. I
I had the factory trigger worked on by a good gunsmith. The pull was
much smoother, broke at 2 pounds, but the trigger still traveled way too
much. Several set screws in the trigger guard serve as trigger stops
now, and the difference is truly amazing. With the heavy barrel and
excellent trigger, continuous semi-rapid firing with 30 round magazines
results in consistant sub one inch groups at 25 yards.
Much of the benefit of the heavy replacement barrels is their ability to
absorb and dissipate heat, and that they do not open up the groups as
they get warm. I'm extremely pleased with the stainless barrel I got
from Midway, and with an un-colored birch stock, the gun looks mighty,
mighty fine.
