   ?! Charming!
BASIC is a language and requires an interpreter or compiler.
C is really no different in that respect. You will need to
get a C compiler. There are such things as C interpretors,
but they aren't worth the trouble when you can just as easily
produce working standalone .EXE files with a compiler/linker.
I suggest you check for the several freeware and shareware
C compilers available or look into a low-cost compiler.
MIX Power C is inexpensive for DOS users, and if you are
going to be using Windows, then you can get VC++4.0/1.52 for
under $40 from http://www.egghead.com under the name
C Programming Starter Kit. It may also be available at your
local electronics superstore, be that Best Buy, CompUSA, or
whatever is handy. Egghead also has an 800 number you can
get from your operator. If you are interested solely in
Win32 development, then the Game Programmer Starter Kit is
also a good choice, and comes with several handy reference
books on CD, along with sound and graphics libraries and
with VC++4.0 Standard version, also under $40.
If you have a serious interest in C, then look for a file
called SNIPPETS. There is information in there on several
available C compilers, and which one might suit you.
If you have the internet, search for "c compilers" on one
of the search engines and see what comes up. Good luck!
