Two Survive Cambodia Crash
Two children are the only survivors of the crash of a Vietnam
Airlines plane near Phnom Penh in which 64 people were killed,
hospital officials said on Thursday. The Tupolev Tu-134, on a flight
from Ho Chi Minh City in southern Vietnam, crashed on Wednesday
after the pilot had apparently tried to abort the landing at the
last minute but failed to regain altitude. The survivors of the
crash were an 18-month-old Thai boy and a Vietnamese boy about four
years old, hospital officials said. Officials had previously
included the Vietnamese boy among the dead but he was subsequently
found alive in the hospital. A third child pulled alive from the
wreckage died late Wednesday.
