I've had the most incredible support problems with people with those MWave
devices. They are a splendid idea, but the first thing IBM tech support
asks users to do when they have ANY odd happenings under Windows or OS/2,
is to remove all traces of the MWave drivers.

Also hit a weird problem on the IBM 760CD, related to the MWave - if you
have the MWave drivers installed, the computer can't recognize an asserted
DCD signal in Windows - even if you're using a PCMCIA modem or an external
modem on the serial port. DCD is always unasserted, regardless of what the
modem is doing.
