I see that your mind is set - but her's an example of just one
compelling reason.
You have 3-4 folders or programs open on the desktop. You want to open
an app in a folder that buried beneath them. Your way must be:
At least one click per app/folder to minimize/close them to find the
app folder.
One double click to open the folder.
One double click to start the object you wanted.
Total: Seven mouse click to start the object you wanted.
With a task tray or bar, ONE CLICK!! Not to account for reopening the
things you closed or miminized.
GUIs are here to stay. These things you don't like save time by
simplicity in accomplishing most tasks for most of us.
