Oh, not at all, really... it is about an hour to the Sacramento area
from here.. and another hour perhaps to Chaw Se... not too bad.
Driving to Los Angeles takes 4 or 5 hours.  Driving to Oregon took
an even longer time but I couldn't say exactly as we tended to stop
a lot and drive easy (for the kids' sake).
The Sierra foothills don't seem far away at all...
