He's just been on the phone again.
The car is outside and it's been dark five hours here. He's organised his
father and a couple of neighbours to hunt for the spectacles, and says he's
expecting CRUNCH - "I've found them!" any second.
The bonnet is apparently not wholly detached - the gas-filled struts have
been ripped out and it's resting on the roof of the car. No engine bay
damage that he can see.
Amazingly his eyeballs aren't hurt, but he say he has neither eyebrows nor
eyelashes and won't need to shave for a day or two.
When he called I could hear his father muttering in the background.
UPDATE - this just in - specs found undamaged high up in the Leylandii
hedge on the other side of next door's garden. All going inside for a
stiff drink.
