Obviously you do not. Please tell me you aren't following the lead given to
you by your great leader once more.

It's almost certainly not Syria. Of the "bad guys" it might only
be Iran but that's fairly tenuous. Of the "good guys" it's
equally likely that it's the Israelis.

Who would be damaged if the US & Syria started negotiating wrt Iraq
& Lebanon esp if that includes the Golan?

The Iranians would lost their route into Lebanon & Israel would
possibly lose the Golan.

It is odd how the assassinations keep happening every time the US &
Syria look like getting a bit closer.

Which is true.

I can't work out if he was given too much, too little or if the idea was to
cause consternation in the Ex-pat Russian community.

However it's nothing which is outside the bounds of the "WoT" as
this man was a threat to Russian national security & I suppose we are
all lucky that it wasn't a missile impacting his car in a busy London
street.

But hey next you'll be assuring me how Arafat died a natural death.
