Ken, You have made a good choice. By going back you have shown to the list
and yourself that
you will not give up. To have your mirror polished and find out you are in
too deep, most would deal
with the depth and go on. But not many have gotten that deep , 3.5 ? Were
you grinding with a
basket ball? You must have had the glass on top too much and short
strokes. I have two mirrors
(glass disks) one a 9"x 5/8" which is close to parob awaiting a
fix of a TDE that never left the table..
Since it was so thin I only used the tool on top, but supported the glass
at all times.
Same goes for my 10"x 5/8" disk which is on deck waiting for polish...
I would suggest to work tool on top for awhile with long strokes at
220 with constant rotation.
Remember that the rotation is the key to change the curve of the tool and
the glass.
I would check the thickness of the tiles often as you go along, if you
are using tiles, If you are using
a glass blank , check the thickness also. Remember you are going back..
Your tool must adjust to
your new curve just like the glass. Don't work so fast as to create a hole
in the middle that you
can't get rid of. The hole is there work it out at revolutions, and watch
out not to turn the edge.
I would also rebevel the edge since you will be taking of mor glass there
than anywhere else.
I have never gone back before, anyone else been
there???
