I said the above as I have tried MANY Taiwanese modems, and have found them
all to operate very poorly, at least here in Australia. I think you will
find that just about 90% of the modems that come from Taiwan are exactly
the same except the box/labels etc anyhow.

As for a real reason, Diamond modems do not function as well as they should
in Australia, as they have Taiwanese firmware, and I have never heard
anyone getting 'good' CPS rates on one!
