Where was this frowned upon post cold war??? Are you serious? Oh maybe you
think it was just coz the first proper post cold war president was Clinton
& thus it was just those soft democrat liberals who frowned upon Intel
orgs killing opponents/threats to national security (unless they're mossad
obviously)

Those killing in Chechnya were condemned as were those doing the same job
in the Yugoslav/serbian intel orgs etc.

Now however there's not a lot you can really say to a country which sends
out it's killers & kidnappers so long as they can turn round to you
& use the "national security/terrorism" card where the state
gets to define both.
