USRs have always worked that way, and who's to say that Rockwell's method
is correct?  Indeed, I wonder which of the two companies made modems first?
 Bear in mind also that there is no obligation to comply with the original
Hayes command set (and most don't these days anyway).

But if you DO decide to top yourself, can I have your Courier ?  :)
