As Chris was just saying for a once off quicky recording the key macro would
be the best bet.  However if there were thousands of records then it would 
ay
to sit down and write some code.  I guess it also depends on what the nth
field is going to be changed to.  The other trap with comma delimited files
are fields that contain ","'s.  To get around that each field is bound with
"'s.  It can still get very messy.  That is why from experience fixed column
databases are a lot easier to work with.
