There was a BBC TV series about British immigrants to Australia a couple of
years ago. I don't know if the BBC set it up, but there was one hilarious
episode where a diffident and newly-arrived family inspected a unit
(apartment) which someone had suggested they rent.

They found red-back spiders crawling everywhere! (Red backs are not large,
but they look positively evil and can deliver very painful or even fatal
stings.) From the look of the program, that family hoped they could find
their way back to the airport ASAP.
